Marie Young ~ At Caressant Care, Listowel, on Saturday, March 22, 2008, Mrs. Eliza Marie (Holmes) Young of Listowel, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Peachey and the late Howard Young. Dear mother of Janice and Terry Barker of R.R. 5, Mitchell, and mother-in-law of Ross Veitch and his fiancé June Williamson of Listowel. Grandmother of Rob and Erin Veitch, and Rich Veitch, all of Listowel, Brent and Roxanne Barker of R.R. 1, Centreville, and Nathan Barker of Mississauga. Great-grandmother of Justin Laverty, Robbie and Brandon Barker, and Evan and Karsyn Veitch. Sister-in-law of Betty (Bob) Byatt of Stratford, Eileen (Tony) Van Dop of London, and Peggy (Horace) Peachey of London. Also survived by her extended family Wayne and Shirley Young, and Paul and Chris Young, all of Listowel, Dave and Molly Young of Stratford, Ron and Jan Young of Barrie, and their families, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Predeceased by her daughter Ruth Veitch, her sister Wilma Merryfield, and her brother Preston Holmes.
Mrs. Young was born in Elma Township. She was an active member of the Atwood Presbyterian Church W.M.S., and later a member of Trinity United Church, Listowel. Marie enjoyed knitting, sewing, and needlepoint.
Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, March 26th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Steven Cox officiating.
Spring interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Elma Township.
