Obituary for Gerard and Marianne Vandekolk

Gerard and Marianne Vandekolk
With heavy hearts we announce the loss of our loving and devoted parents, Gerard and Marianne Vandekolk. Gerardus “Gerard” Peterus Vandekolk was born on February 17, 1956 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and Maria “Marianne” Johanna (Loeffen) Vandekolk was born January 13, 1954 in Schaijk, the Netherlands.

Their lives were tragically lost in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, August 2, 2015.

Survived by their three daughters Marieke (Matthew), Leonie (Ian) and Jolene (Sean).

Remembered by Marianne’s siblings, Marcel (Ria), Gerard (Ellie), Henriette (Willy), Anton (Antoinette), Leo (deceased), Annie (Frans), and Mari (Ingrid), and by Gerard’s siblings, Petra (Gerard), Peter (deceased), Pauline (Ben), and Lambert.

Our free-spirited parents shared 37 years of blissful marriage. Through their diverse endeavours across the Netherlands and Canada they touched many hearts and lives. They were devoted Christians and shared a deep love for Christ. Our mama was the most kind and caring mother and wife. She was our, and our papa’s biggest supporter. Together they were actively engaged in the greater community through the Christian Motorcycle Association and Gerard’s engagement in local choirs. They were happiest spending time with their daughters, friends or out together exploring the far reaches of North America on their Harley Davidson. They will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel, on Saturday, August 8th at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Jack DeVries officiating.

Memorial donations to Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel, would be appreciated.
