Manuel Coelho ~ Peacefully, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Mr. Manuel Eduardo Coelho of Listowel, in his 76th year.

Husband of the late Venancia Coelho. Father of Susie and Craig Quinlan, and Manny and Maryheather Coelho, all of Listowel. Grandfather of Venancia and Chance Quinlan, and Hayden and Landen Coelho.

Brother of Joe and Agueda Coelho, John and Gloria Coelho, and Raymond and Clara Coelho, all of Listowel, and brother-in-law of Maria Dos Anjus of Acores. Predeceased by his sister Maria and her husband John Condinho.

After a chance meeting with Harry and Mina Forman who were vacationing in Bermuda, the Formans sponsored Manuel to come to Listowel. Leaving his wife and infant son behind, Manuel immigrated from the Island of Sao Miguel, Azores in 1965, and began working at Jackson Motors and Campbell Soup to reunite his family who joined him in 1968.

Manuel was the first Portuguese settler to the Town of Listowel, and was an instrumental influence for the many who followed his footsteps. He was deeply grateful to the many people who helped him along the way, and repaid their kindness by quietly helping others. He was a well-respected and well-liked employee, retiring from Campbell Soup Company after more than 40 years of service.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 1:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Friday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m.

Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
