Obituary for Audrey Bowman

Audrey Bowman
Audrey Bowman ~ At Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, Mrs. Audrey Ann (Harrow) Bowman of Listowel, in her 72nd year.

Beloved wife of Bartley Bowman. Mother of Lu-Ann and Peter Clarke of Richmond Hill, Scott and Kristen Bowman of Walkerton. Grandmother of Caleb and Hannah Clarke, and Keaton and Izzie Bowman.

Sister of Pauline and Lee Bentley of Listowel, and sister-in-law of Bev and Barb Bowman of Elmira.

Audrey was predeceased by her parents Earl and Agnes (Haddow) Harrow, brother-in-law Floyd Bowman, and sister-in-law Ruth Bowman.

Born Audrey Ann Harrow on the 13th Line, RR2 Atwood, Audrey was no stranger to hard work.

After highschool she worked at a local packing plant, and after graduating from highschool she worked in medical records at Stratford hospital.

Audrey married Bartley Bowman in 1968. She worked at the town office in Listowel as well as Listowel hospital before settling into the role of a dairy farmer for 30 years on Line 86, Listowel.

Over the years she was an active member of Peace Women's Institute, Trinity United Church, and local 4-H clubs. Audrey traveled with Bartley, being a part of many insurance and plowman events.

Audrey loved hockey. She never turned down the opportunity to watch the Listowel Cyclones in the 80's, Palmerston 81's in the 90's, and then her grandchildren play for the Richmond Hill Stars and Coyotes, along with the Walkerton Capitals in the 2000's!

Her love for music will always be remembered, was passed on to her entire family, and shared with all of her friends ..... It all started when she received her first piano at the age of 5. That piano is still the centerpiece in the family home. She has played with many people over the years, most recently with the Serenaders. Audrey never turned down an opportunity to go dancing with Bartley and their NCO friends. Music truly grounded her life.

Everyone will remember Audrey’s zest for life.... Her smile, her laugh, her willingness to always be there for any one, and at any time to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. She made everyone feel like a kid and everyone's kids feel like grandkids!

Audrey touched many lives. She filled many hearts in so many ways, and will be truly missed by everyone.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Listowel on Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Colin Snyder officiating.
