Condolence From: Judy and Dan Watson
Condolence: Velma and family So sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was always such a kind, jovial and approachable pastor. I was very glad that Kelly and Alison, as young children, had the good fortune to be led by you and John in your ministry at Chatham Baptist Church. We know he is in a wonderful place but our hearts go out to you in support as I am sure it is hard to carry on without him. Although we will not be able to attend the funeral we will be thinking of you at this difficult time. Judy and Dan Watson

Condolence: We are very sad to hear the news of 'the Rev' -Rev. John Smith passing. We lived in Haliburton and Rev. Smith, Velma and their fantastic children were a big part of our world. Rev. Smith always had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. We always enjoyed running into him at sports events or just in the streets in Haliburton. We will certainly remember Rev. Smith very fondly. Our condolences to the Smith family. We share in your loss. kelly and shirley

Condolence From: Scott & Emily { Elliott } LaRue
Condolence: Dear Velma & Family, How can Emily & I express our true feelings to you about how sorry & how happy that John is with the Man that he is with today. He preached from his heart & you know that he will be missed, but you must have comfort to know he has been welcomed to home by the Savior. He was well respected not only as a minister but a very active person in the Haliburton community. The LaRue family of who I am speaking for felt that John was like part of our life. He & Mom were so very close. We always appreciated how he supported us, travelling with Dad to watch me play hockey at the Gardens, marrying 3 of our 4 children & coming to the rededication of the arena into the A.J. LaRue Community Centre. Velma, we are thinking about you & the family at this time. God Bless You All. I would hope that you & John enjoyed the small snippet of home movie that A.J. took years ago. Emily & I would be at the service, but we are in Myrtle Beach SC. Love to all of you, Scotty & Emily & Family.

Condolence From: Brad & Michele Ghent
Condolence: We were sad to hear of Uncle John's passing, however, knowing that we don't grieve as those without hope provides a measure of peace. To those who are closest to him, our prayers are with you and especially Aunt Velma as you go through this difficult process of saying "see you a little later" to the man who spent life by your side.

Condolence From: Mark TarBush
Condolence: To Velma and family - So sorry to hear about John's passing. I enjoyed the exchanges of witticisms over the years. He had a very dry humour which made those exchanges memorable for me - eg on our respective names - at least I would raise fewer raised eyebrows checking into hotels! Our thoughts and prayers are extended to you all./Mark

Condolence From: Liz and David Dadson
Condolence: Dear Velma and all the family. Our sincere condolences in the loss of John. He was such a witty, funny, true servant of God. We were fortunate to have him as interim pastor at KBC before George Scott came onboard. I still remember that service when I was playing the keyboard for the final hymn, and usually he cautioned me to slow down but this time he was waving at me to speed up because he was going to faint due to his diabetes! What a great and wonderful man. Forever imitated but never duplicated. Always remembered. May God comfort you all at this sad time. Love, Liz and David, Rebecca, Geoffrey and Gregory Dadson
