Bob Clarke ~ At Stratford General Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer, on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, Mr. Robert George Clarke of Listowel, in his 78th year.

Beloved husband of Eleanor Clarke.

Father of Patty and Frank Vandrus of Kitchener, Roberta and Richard Urban of Mount Hope, and father-in-law of Marilyn Clarke of Brantford.

Grandfather of Matthew Clarke, Jamie Clarke and Dee Mercer, Thomas Vandrus, Anne Vandrus, Maxwell Urban, and Fletcher Urban.

Brother of Jack and Joanne Clarke of Sarnia, Sherrill and Rick Molloy, and Linda and Bill Ratcliffe, all of London, and Bruce and Bonnie Clarke of Strathroy, and brother-in-law of Jean and John Hawken of Owen Sound.

Predeceased by his son Ron, parents George and Edna (Dunlop) Clarke, and sisters Velma and Joyce.

Bob was born and raised on a farm near Dashwood ON. He attended Exeter High school and earned a degree in math and physics from Western University.

Starting in 1961, he worked for Westinghouse in Hamilton.

Bob met Eleanor at a local country dance hall and they married in July 1962. They moved to Burlington and raised three children.

In 1973, Bob became an engineer for Atomic Energy associated with the CANDU reactors at the Bruce Nuclear Power Station. He retired in 2000.

Bob enjoyed cars, softball, skating, skiing, camping, scrabble, card playing, refurbishing bicycles, square and round dancing, joining many committees, and was an active member of his church.

Bob was always looking for ways to be helpful and enjoyed conversations with anyone he met.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Trinity United Church, Listowel on Monday, April 10th at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow.

Due to allergies, no flowers please. Memorial donations to Trinity United Church, Listowel, or Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
