Henry Verheye ~ on Saturday, June 11, 2016, a loving and devoted husband and father, Henry Cyriel Verheye, formerly of Listowel, went to live with his Lord. He was 96.

This modest man was led by Jesus to His everlasting life in glory.

Husband of the late Grace L. Ferguson (2010). Missed and loved by son Glen and Irene Verheye of Kitchener and daughter Karen and Al Furtney of Stratford. Treasured Poppie to Paul Verheye and fiancé Heather, Blair Verheye, Brent and Jana Furtney, and Rhonda Furtney. Great Grandpa to Lauren Furtney and Selena (Jeff) and Vanessa Jones.

Brother of Margaret Small, Cyriel and Pat Verheye, and Bob Verheye, and brother-in-law of Ethel Reeves, Yvonne and Adriaan Zyta, and Goldie Ferguson.

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Cyril and Angela Verheye, sister Janet Shewfelt, brother Albert Verheye, brothers-in-law Raymond Small, Orville Shewfelt, Roy Ferguson, Edward Reeves, and Gordon ‘Shorty’ Wayland, and sisters-in-law Marjorie Verheye and Shirley Wayland.

Henry was born on a farm in Henfryn, Ontario, on April 16, 1920. He was a former employee of the casket factory, Lily Cup, Malcolm’s Furniture and Sprinrite Yarns, all of Listowel. Henry served his country in the army during World War ll. He lived in Listowel until 2015 when he moved to Cambridge Country Manor.

Henry and Grace lived a humble existence with a huge garden at the east end of Listowel as his pride and joy. He was always a warm and caring man who was blessed with his family, many close and faithful friends and neighbours, and a strong devotion to God and Country. He will be missed.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel on Wednesday, June 15th at 2:00 p.m., and followed by Henry’s favourite meal!

Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.

Donations to Knox Presbyterian Church or the Recreational fund at Cambridge Country Manor would be greatly appreciated.
