Edward O'Grady ~ It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our cherished father, Sylvester Lawrence Edward O’Grady, at Caressant Care Listowel, on Monday, September 19, 2016, in his 86th year.

He departed this life surrounded by his children to rejoin his beloved wife Margaret ‘Peggy’ (Kraemer) whom he lost 15 years ago. He leaves behind a chasm in our lives that can never be filled and we will miss him every day.

He was the loving father of Lisa O’Grady of London, Lynne and Gerry McConville of Oshawa, Luci and Malcolm Clark of St. Thomas, and John and Victoria O’Grady of Waterloo. Proud and beloved grandfather to Cameron, Lily, Liam and Maggie Clark and to James McMeeken and Aidan O’Grady.

Survived by his sister Patricia O’Grady, and sisters-in-law Ann and Doreen O’Grady, Betty (Gene) Frayne, Mary Ann McKay, and Fern, Jean and Peggy Kraemer. Many nieces, nephews and friends will miss him.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Catherine (Schiebel) O’Grady; brothers Howard, Charles and Clare; parents-in-law Albert and Mary Kraemer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathleen (Edward) Linseman, James Edward, John Arthur (Marion), Harold (Gertrude), Kevin, Hughie (Phyllis), and Neil Kraemer, and James McCaffrey and Richard McKay.

Ed retired from Spinrite Yarns over 20 years ago. He was a devoted Knights of Columbus member serving as Grand Knight, as well as a faithful parishioner, usher and caretaker at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Listowel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Saturday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.

Following the reception, interment will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hesson.

Donations to St. Josephs’ Building Fund or Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
