Obituary for John Burns

John Burns ~ At Caressant Care, Harriston, on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, John Peter Burns, formerly of Gowanstown, in his 91st year.

Son of the late Joseph and Emily (Meschkat) Burns. Predeceased also by his sisters Mary Burns, Helen Burnzyski, and Vicky Lippert. Remembered by his good friends Wayne and Bonnie Ernest and their family.

John was born in Esch-sur-alzette, Luxembourg.

He emigrated with his sister Mary, on January 23, 1955. He was always a hard-worker. At age 25, he and his sister Mary, bought a SuperTest Gas Station in Windsor. After that, they moved to Toronto and bought a Texaco. John worked as a mechanic in the shop, while Mary ran the store. They later bought a farm in Gowanstown, where he farmed and owned and operated ‘Gowanstown Tire’. He continued to work hard, enjoy mechanics, and found his love of farming, animals, and fishing.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. George Russell officiating.

Spring interment in Zion United Church Cemetery, Wallace Township.
