Beloved wife of the late Johannes 'John' Van de Gevel.

Dear mother of Riek Arand & Mahlon Horst of Milverton, Peter & Cindy Van de Gevel of R.R. 2, Ayton, Liz & Earl Lannin of R.R. 2, Atwood, Christine Lannin of R.R. 2, Atwood, Joanne & Hugh Crawford of R.R. 1, Monkton, Andre & Brenda Van de Gevel of Harriston, Mary & John McLagan of R.R. #5, Mitchell, John & Palma Van de Gevel of Elmwood, Paul & Mary Van de Gevel of Aurora, and Margaret Van de Gevel & Greg Green of Aurora.

Grandmother of (27) Theresa, Steven, Peggy, David, Starlet, Joseph, Anna Marie, Jason, Loretta, Lisa, Loyal, Ben, Mark, Steven, Christopher, Michelle, Janine, Sharlene, Michael, Nicole, Dannielle, Eric, Kyla, Jaron, Aunika, Faith, and Nathan, and great-grandmother of 50, and waiting to welcome her 51st in August.

Sister of Case & Nellie Tegenbosch of Atwood, and Corrie, Anne, Johanne, and Wil, all in the Netherlands.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Christianus & Hendrika (DeKrom) Tegenbosch, granddaughters Kelly and Vicki Crawford, and sons-in-law Ray Lannin and Bert Arand.

Mary was born in Valkenswaard, Netherlands, on November 8, 1924, the second oldest of 13 children. Mary and John immigrated in 1952 from Holland to Southwestern Ontario. They lived out their dream, raising a family of 10 and purchasing a dairy farm in Elma Township in 1969. They worked hard together and instilled in their children love, faith, respect, hard work, and the value of family. In 1988, they retired to Listowel and enjoyed their grandchildren, travelling, and visiting friends. Mary loved her family, gardening, and knitting. She was a devout Catholic and long-standing member of St. Joseph’s Church, Listowel.


Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. , with prayers at 1:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Thursday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Listowel Agricultural Hall.

Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation, or Heart and Stroke would be appreciated.
