Obituary for Carol Stephenson

Caroline Marie ‘Carol’ (Hunt) Stephenson of Listowel passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, on Sunday, January 24, 2021, in her 83rd year.

Beloved wife of the late Bob Stephenson (2012). Loving mother of Leesa Stephenson of Listowel, Mark Stephenson of Palmerston, and Susan and Bob May, of Listowel.

Cherished grandmother of Taylor and Mitchell May.

Sister of Ray and Janet Hunt of Puslinch, and Roger Hunt and Sherry Moriarity of Woodstock.

Predeceased by her parents Roman and Madeline (Kritz) Hunt, parents-in-law Herbert and Verna (Candler) Stephenson, infant son Larry, sister-in-law Ruth Neale of Etobicoke. and by her brother Ron Hunt of Cambridge.

Carol was born in Kincardine on April 5, 1938 and moved with her family to Galt, (Cambridge) Ontario as a child where she lived until marrying Bob. They moved to Listowel in 1964 and she remained here ever since.

Family was always important to her and those who knew her knew that people were more important to her than things ever could be. She was there to listen if we needed to talk or if we needed a hug. She enjoyed reading her whole life until her sight worsened, and when this became impossible, she would spend hours playing euchre on her computer.

Mom also loved her weekly card dates with her children. Her favourite colour was blue and her favourite food was liver & onions. Carol collected Elvis memorabilia and was always up for listening to him on the oldies channel. An avid fan of the Listowel Cyclones, she could be seen at the arena cheering them on in years past. She was also a dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Thank you for the 8 years we had with you following the passing of Dad. We will cherish you and those memories always. Now you and Dad can feed the birds together again.

A private family funeral service will be held at Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Dwarika officiating. Due to COVID restrictions, please do not attend. Instead, the service will be live-streamed and we ask you to watch safely from your home.
