Obituary for Deb Wilson

It is with shattered hearts and profound sadness, the family of Debra Lyn (Slight) Wilson of Fordwich announce her sudden passing on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the age of 70.

Deb was the dear wife of Wray Wilson. Loving mother of Amanda & Stewart McConkey of Gravenhurst, and Kyle & Tanya Wilson of St. Thomas, and proud ‘Mama’ of Brooke, Andres, Briar, Mia, and Zoe.

Sister of Joan & Jerry Simpson of Wallaceville, and sister-in-law of Margie McClement, and Norm & Bonnie Wilson, all of Fordwich, and Lorne & Deb Wilson of Fergus. Also remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Bill & Evelyn Slight, parents-in-law Cecil & Jean Wilson, and brother-in-law Ron McClement.

Born and raised in Listowel, Deb attended Listowel Public School and Listowel District Secondary School where she met her high school sweetheart Wray. They were married in 1975 and moved to Fordwich where they built their home and a beautiful life together.

Deb’s forty-one-year career as Executive Assistant at the Listowel Memorial Hospital ended in March 2012 when she moved on to what was probably the happiest chapter of her life, her retirement. She loved spending time at their ‘work farm’ – hunt camp turned cottage on Wilson Island, Lake Muskoka and being free to play cards, exercise, visit with family and friends and spend time with the apples of her eye, her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Listowel on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be live-streamed.
