Obituary for Hélène Wilson

Hélène Marie Elisabeth (Hull) Wilson of Listowel, and formerly of Lighthouse Cove and Mississauga, passed away at Guelph General Hospital peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the age of 71.

Married for 43 years to the love of her life, Steven Wilson.

Loving mother of Tammy Wilson-Varney (Kyle Varney) of Etobicoke, and Elisa Wilson (Brent Munro) of Port Credit. Beloved grandmother (mémère) of Samantha Varney.

Sister of Gilbert Hull (Jacqueline) of Callander, and Patrick Hull (Patricia) of Larder Lake, and sister-in-law of William Wilson (Sue) of Clifford, Betty Smallwood (Dave) of Kirkland Lake, and Patricia Spadetto (Gabriel) of Kenogami.

Daughter-in-law of Gordon and Shirley (Willard) Wilson of Virginiatown, and aunt to several remarkable nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Albert and Elyzer (Collins) Hull.

Hélène was born on June 24, 1949 in Granada, Quebec, and raised in Larder Lake, Ontario. She later met Steven and married in Timmins. They moved to Mississauga to raise their daughters. It was in Mississauga where her passion for helping and caring for others lead her to a career as a nursing assistant. Upon retirement they moved to Lighthouse Cove and recently to Listowel to be closer to their daughters and their families.

Hélène enjoyed tending to her gardens, searching for a great find on her consignment store adventures, and playing Madame De Pique with her family. She treasured spending time with family. She was first and foremost a devoted mother, and bestowed grandmother. She was always caring of others, nurtured their personal growth, and was supportive in all aspects of their lives. She loved watching her great nieces and nephews flourish and seeing their creativity.

Hélène will be remembered fondly for her love of her family, her spirituality, her great sense of fashion, her quirky quick wit and her ability to make anyone feel welcomed. She will be missed by many.

Thank you to the staff of the Guelph Renal Clinic and the Guelph General Hospital for their exceptional care.

Private family arrangements have been entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
