Obituary for Jack Mayberry

John James ‘Jack’ Mayberry passed away at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Monday, September 6, 2021, at the age of 92 years.

Beloved husband of Anne (Tosh) Mayberry. Cherished father of Alison & Donald Westman of Elmira, and Eleanor Mayberry & Mark Eastman of Novar, and father-in-law of Nancy Mayberry of Listowel. Grandfather of Meaghan & Gerard Hachey, Jason & Melissa Mayberry, Ashley & Ray Morrison, and Jordan Eastman & Jess Pulfrey, and great-grandfather of Olivia, Norah, Owen, Hailey, Morgan, Harper, Declan and Walker.

Predeceased by his son Ian, parents Edison & Florence (McKenzie) Mayberry, brother Lloyd Mayberry and his wife Irene, and sister Marjorie and her husband Jack Packham.

Jack was born August 29, 1929 in Mornington Township. He met a young Scottish nurse on a blind date, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. He was a true and dedicated dairy farmer all his life, serving on Mornington Council before retiring to Listowel in 1984. After moving to Listowel, he and Anne were faithful members of Calvary United Church, Listowel.

Papa Jack was in his glory when the little people came for a visit! Jack loved playing Lost Heir and Euchre and did so several times a week before being dealt the hand of dementia. He was very happy to be reunited with wife when she moved to Knollcrest Lodge just after Christmas.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anderson, Wendy Dunn, and the entire staff at Knollcrest for their dedication, care and compassion.

Memorial donations to Knollcrest Lodge Courtyard Redevelopment Project or Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
