It is with heavy hearts that we announce the going home of Marie Hofer, on April 7th 2022 at the Stratford Hospital at the age of 89. Loving wife of (late) Ernst Samuel Hofer and predeceased by her parents Emma and Gustaf Braun, her brother Walter Braun, sister Vreni Bossard, all of Switzerland, and her granddaughter Celine Netanya Hofer.
Much loved mother of Hansueli (Myrtha) Hofer, Owen Sound, Ernst (Ritchel) Hofer, Newton/Philippines and Martin Hofer, Newton.
Cherished grandmother of Ben (Star) Hofer, Burlington, Jasmin Hofer Listowel, Robin (Jen) Hofer, Allenford, Leana Hofer, Owen Sound, Shanah Hofer, Owen Sound, Ernst Hofer Jr., and Marie Hofer Jr., Philippines.

Dear Sister of remaining siblings, Hans (Elisabeth) Braun and Werner Braun.
Marie and Ernst Hofer immigrated in 1986 to Newton, Ontario from Switzerland, with their sons Hans, Martin and Ernst, daughter in law Nelly and two grandchildren Ben and Jasmin. Together they worked on a dairy farm outside of Newton for many years. They loved to work outside and enjoyed to create beautiful flowerbeds and landscaping in their spare time.
Marie’s love for the craftsmanship of days gone by, as well as anything creative, from paintings to flower decorations have filled her days and given her much joy. She could share her life experiences for hours, and loved to talk about the old times. Until only 3 weeks ago she was still living independently in her home on the farm with son Martin and enjoyed cooking every day. Marie was prepared to go home in her final days. We're glad that she has now joined the love of her life Ernst, in a place where there's no more pain.
She will be dearly missed by her family; our loss is heaven's gain.
A private family service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to House of Friendship would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
