It is with great sadness that the family of Neil Elmer Hackbart of Mount Forest announce his unexpected passing on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest, at the age of 67 years.

Loving husband of Janice (Purcell) Hackbart.

Proud father of Adam Hackbart & Christin Ritz of Kitchener, and Andrew & Christine Hackbart of Exeter.

Cherished grandfather of Dylan, Lincoln, Daxton, Blake, and Brielle.

Brother of Gary Hackbart of Waterloo, Bruce & Maria Hackbart of Breslau, Gerald & Carolyn Hackbart of Kitchener, Kathryn & Bill Troubridge of Elora, and Carolyn Benyair of Port Elgin, and brother-in-law of Trish Hackbart of Kitchener.

Remembered by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lorraine Brownell of Listowel, Carol & Edgar Carreira of Geraldton, and Brian Purcell, and David & Marilyn Purcell, all of R.R.3, Listowel, and by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Fred & Rose (Maurer) Hackbart, parents-in-law Harry & Vola (Steenson) Purcell, brothers Raymond, Lloyd, Glen (Lisa), Brian, and Morris, sisters-in-law Beth Purcell and Florence Hackbart, and brother-in-law Allan Purcell.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Thursday on 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. James Clark officiating. The service will be livestreamed.
