Nora Ferne (Mitchell) Doig of Listowel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the age of 97.
Loving wife of the late J. Lorne Doig (1990), and dear partner of the late Hillis "Red" Leslie (2020). Mother of Philip Doig of Chesley, Kent & Kerry Doig of Palmerston, Jacqueline & Henry Stevens of Stouffville, Vaughn & Barbara Doig, and Pamela & Paul Ellis, all of Moorefield, and Paul Doig of Listowel.
Loved and remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Dale & Dorothy Mitchell of Scarborough, her nieces and nephews, and by Hillis’ family.
Predeceased by her parents Harmon & Lena (Coultes) Mitchell, sister Ruth Conway and her husband Don, and brothers Ken Mitchell and his wife Marie, and Jack Mitchell and his wife June.
Nora was proud to be a W.W. 2 veteran, rising to the rank of Sergeant. She served from 1943-1946 and was stationed in Ottawa. Her last assignment was overseeing the return of soldiers and equipment from Europe. Nora was the last remaining W.W. veteran of the Listowel Legion.
A private family funeral service and Legion Memorial Service will be held at Parkview Gardens (Listowel Legion) on Wednesday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m. The service will be live-streamed.

A public celebration of Nora’s life will follow from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Masks would be appreciated by the family.
Interment in Derryadd Cemetery, Mapleton Township.
