Shirley Marguerite (Wallace) Zavitz of Listowel, passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 2, 2019, in her 91st year.

Wife of the late Jack Zavitz. Mother of Rob & Helen Zavitz of Listowel, Jim & Darlene Zavitz of Ilderton, David & Karen Zavitz of Burlington, and Bill Zavitz of Paris. Grandmother of Ben & Sarah Zavitz of Listowel, Amy Zavitz & Thomas Fraser of Kitchener, Rebecca & John Welker, and Lauren Zavitz, all of Toronto, Ted Zavitz of Ottawa, Hope Zavitz, and Clare Zavitz, both of Burlington, and Jack, Jake, Josh, and Lydia Zavitz, all of Paris, and great-grandmother of Oliver Zavitz.

Shirley was born in Windsor, Ontario in 1929. She graduated from London Normal School (Teacher's College) in 1948 and was a dedicated primary school teacher in London and at rural schools in Middlesex County.

In 1951, she married Jack Zavitz, her next door neighbour in Poplar Hill Ontario. They came to love the town and made life-long friends through Kinsmen and Kinettes, the United Church, minor hockey, and other volunteer work.

She was energetic, fun-loving, and independent, and never hesitated to help others. She'll be greatly missed by her family and friends.
