New Paragraph
December 14, 1962 – November 30, 2018
I remember when I was courting my wife (Debra Horn) for the first time, little did I know what this new journey would have in store for me. Shortly after our first date Deb asked me to join her on a trip to Listowel to meet her extended family and celebrate Thanksgiving, When we arrived on Binning Street at Deb's grandparent's (Joe & Rae McCracken) there were a number of vehicles in the driveway. This made me a tad nervous as I had no idea whom I was meeting nor did I know how many were there. I took a deep breath and then proceeded inside. It didn't take long and everyone converged into the large country kitchen to get a glimpse and meet the "new kid on the block". They streamed in from every doorway it seemed. There was Deb's grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins, consisting ot the McCracken's, McClement's, Horn's and of course the Tucker's. I was introduced to everyone, congratulations and plesantries followed, welcoming me into their extended family. It was 1971 Brian Tucker (Deb's cousin) was there, he was 8 years old. Even though Brian was quite a bit younger than myself I will never forget my fist impression, he was a well-behaved, well-mannered, polite young boy. We lived in London but our scond home seemed to be Listowel we visited my new extended family very frequently (almost every long weekend, birthdays, anniversaries, stag & does, weddings, births, baptismals, etc) this interaction allowed me the fortune to watch my new extended family grow up. It didn't take long and Brian's voice started changing and the growth spurts were very noticeable, but his calm, polite demeanour was unchanged. I watched Brian mature into a fine outstanding young man who dedicated all his time to his family, friends and community. Brian was always warm and congenial to everyone he touched. I am honoured to be part of this family for the past 47 years. I will always cherish the family memories we had together. Brian will be missed but never forgotten!
