My Aunt Joan

My Aunt Joan use to take me on many outings. My favourite trip was on the train with Coleen Mann (Durst). Aunt Joan arranged for us to travel on the train from Brussels to Listowel (one of the last trips that train made). It was very exciting! Aunt Joan met us at the train station and we headed to her house for a week of fun. She had many things planned for us, but the highlight was going to the 5 to a $1 Store. We were allowed to pick anything! I picked a beautiful necklace and ring set. I was probably 8ish years old so even though it was play jewelry, I thought it was the real thing! Much later, Aunt Joan welcomed Roy and I for an unexpected Christmas! There was a huge snow storm and the roads were closed to Brussels. We played cards and board games late into the night on Christmas Eve. It was so much fun! I will miss my Aunt Joan. She was a very special lady to me.
