My Old Friend Norrie

Norrie and I go back quite a few years to our Baseball and Hockey playing days in the Glebe when we were 10 or 11.  We became friends hanging around Lansdowne park all year playing there during all seasons, all sports.  We worked our first jobs together at the "EX" for the Pronto Pup man sitting in a trailer at the back of the grounds stuffing sticks in the hot dogs, all day every day throughout the EX.

Norrie was a great friend who always had your back.  One time when were playing in the old Cradle Hockey League in the late '50's, a player from Hull hit me from behind and tried to drive me through the boards.  Norrie didn't like the beany the guy was wearing so he promptly downed him.  The three of us were joined by another opposing player and the donnybrook was on.  We were tossed from the game for fighting and had a hearing with league President Ev Tremblay who told us that we started the first fight in the Cradle League and if we ever got in a fight again he would kick our asses.

Over the years we saw each other often at the EX or some other fair or event where Norrie had some kind of stand or booth.  We hadn't seen much of each other in the past few years, but when we did run into each othr there were always lots of stories of those old days.  He was a great guy and will be missed by Family and Friends but we can be assured that Mr. Carnie will be up there looking out for us all and running some kind of game of food stand at that big EX in the sky.

God bless you pal and may you rest in peace.  It was a pleasure knowing you and having you as part of my life, I was glad I got a chance to kno you.
