Memories of Uncle Lorn

A couple times Uncle Lorne came along on our Fishing trips. A few things that I will always remember were the non stop stories from morning till night every day. On several trips we were bothered by wild animals. Well that never happened when he was along. Not exactly sure how anyone can lay down at night and as soon as his head hit the pillow and was out like a light and making such a racket we always tried to get to sleep before him or it was near impossible to get any rest. He snored so loud animals were scared to come around. He liked his morning Newspaper. In fact he was getting them delivered from Parry Sound to Sudbury. If he heard some one was going to town he always asked could you bring me a paper. By the end of the week it was not uncommon to get 2 or 3 Newspapers a day. He even drove the Chipmunks crazy. He would take Peanuts and tie them with Fishing Line just off the ground that the Chipmunks could see them and had to jump up and hang onto the Nut while they chewed the string to get it off. He thought they should work for their snacks. My Grand Kids tell me that I tease them a lot , must be the Vollmer side of the Family that is responsible for that.
